چکیده

Abstract Current knowledge of white matter changes in large-scale brain networks adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is scarce. We collected diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging data 40 adults with ADHD and 36 neurotypical controls used constrained spherical deconvolution based tractography to reconstruct whole-brain structural connectivity networks. network-based statistic (NBS) graph theoretical analysis investigate differences these between the control groups, as well associations symptoms assessed Adult Self-Report Scale or performance Conners Continuous Performance Test 2 (CPT-2). NBS revealed decreased group compared widespread unilateral networks, which included subcortical corticocortical structures encompassed dorsal ventral visual somatomotor systems. Furthermore, hypoconnectivity a predominantly left-frontal network was associated higher amount commission errors CPT-2. Graph did not reveal topological groups properties task performance. Our results suggest that abnormal wiring manifested intrahemispheric previously functional neuroimaging studies.

Abnormal wiring of the connectome in adults with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder

BACKGROUND Recent brain imaging findings suggest that there are widely distributed abnormalities affecting the brain connectivity in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Using graph theoretical analysis, it is possible to investigate both global and local properties of brain's wiring diagram, i.e., the connectome. METHODS We acquired diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging d...

Communication and wiring in the cortical connectome

In cerebral cortex, the huge mass of axonal wiring that carries information between near and distant neurons is thought to provide the neural substrate for cognitive and perceptual function. The goal of mapping the connectivity of cortical axons at different spatial scales, the cortical connectome, is to trace the paths of information flow in cerebral cortex. To appreciate the relationship betw...

Asymmetry of the Structural Brain Connectome in Healthy Older Adults

BACKGROUND It is now possible to map neural connections in vivo across the whole brain (i.e., the brain connectome). This is a promising development in neuroscience since many health and disease processes are believed to arise from the architecture of neural networks. OBJECTIVE To describe the normal range of hemispheric asymmetry in structural connectivity in healthy older adults. MATERIAL...

Abnormal structural networks characterize major depressive disorder: a connectome analysis.

BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder (MDD) has been shown to be associated with a disrupted topological organization of functional brain networks. However, little is known regarding whether these changes have a structural basis. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) enables comprehensive whole-brain mapping of the white matter tracts that link regions distributed throughout the entire brain, the so-ca...
